part deux: Dsquared

Makeup was simple, with nude lipstick, brushy brown and contoured cheeks so well shaped I’m pretty sure we could slice cheese on them. All outfits were accessorized with wide rimmed geeky specs (a fashion that I’m still trying to bravely wear outside the comforts of home)

Dsquared how i luv thee

Just a quick review of my beloved Dsqaured2
I really don’t think there has been a collection by Dsqaured2 that I haven’t liked and Milan fashion week has been no exception.
Menswear on women in my eyes is a trend that will never go out of fashion, so I smiled with delight at the Milan fashion week offerings from Dean and Dan. I call this the geeky androgynous collection with hints of toned down glamour, outfits were kept simple but styled impeccably. The show started with a sparkly shorts and jacket combo, but soon went into simple suits, shorts, swimwear and even eveningwear, all paired with flat brogues and specs. In terms of accessorises we were offered specs, straw trilby’s, large tote bags  in tans, yellows,  Alexa-type satchels and clutch bags I wished I owned.

Mac cosmetics

The Look: Apply Black and dark grey shadow upper lids, line lower lash with jet blbck eye liner, using a cotton bud smudge, gel line the upper lid and apply plenty of mascara. Apply blush on the apple of cheek and blend out, apply/blend highlighter on the cheek bone. Line lips with a nude colour and apply nude lip colour (this depends on your own skin colour)

Another fine blog

Well I just wanted to mention a little something something about a reallllllllllllllllllllly cool blog I've been following. I find it inspiring to look at fashion from a male perspective, especially from someone who is so passionate about the world of fashion. He knows what he is talking about and as an extra treat we get to delve into the fashion stylings of a man, we have sooo many blogs coming from a female perspective, it’s refreshing to get one from a male perspective.

Please support your fellow blogger.

Holly Fulton is my new style addiction, there i said it!

Who: An emerging designer who studied at Edinburgh College of Art and The Royal College of Art, fulton was recently awarded with the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award for Accessories at the British Fashion Awards. Her design statement seems to geometric patterns, influenced by tribal patterns.

Erdem

WHO: Erdem is a part Turkish part English man who grew up in Canada. Staring off his career in DVF he later set up his own label. Erdem is a favourite amongst editors, celebrities and now even Politian’s wives, his feminine silhouettes appeals to women who would rather have a timeless classic in their wardrobe then continuously mindlessly follow fashion trends. Having won the British fashion council enterprise award in 2007 and 2008, he was fast recognised as a designer to watch and is much anticipated.

LFW: Mulberry's lady like chic

yo snitches its Mulberry

yo snitches its Mulberry by guess what im a robot! on Polyvore.com

Who: Mulberry started in 1971, in the humble settings of Somerset (hahaha which is also Clark’s head office location) its evolution through the years has given us fashionistas something to add to the our wish list, the bayswater, the Roxanne, daria and of course the most recent hit the Alexa (yes after Chung herself).

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK, Erdem we are waiting

Dame V westwood

Please excuse me, im feeling 100% today so i'll have to update this post with pics later. :)

Who: I’m sorry for being snobbish here, but if you seriously don’t know you she is well then I’m shocked. She is one of the best British designers!
The look: Well for starters westwood has said not to buy anything for six months; if we do buy clothing chose them wisely. I think that was the inspiration for this collection. It felt like it was a showcase of how to update your current wardrobe, accessorise with a belt seemed like one of the key ideas. Have you ever heard of a show called hi de hi? Well some outfits were very reminiscent of that show, plenty of stripes. Again Westwood got us bad with the tailoring, whenever I think Vivienne I think a well-made blazer and pencil skirt, thank goodness she didn’t disappoint.

The makeup: avatar inspired make up, with either a blue or green line across the face and a simple red lip colour. The hair was pretty relaxed, mid parting with hardly any curl to it.

Unique Topshop

Unique topshop

Who: well we all know about Topshop since they rule the British high street and even the world. I’m sadden by the amount of celebrities that openly shop at topshop, plz you don’t need to advertise this as you are making the prices shoot up for the average person!!!

Basso & Brooke

Basso & Brooke
Who: Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke, in 2006 Elle named the Brazilian/British duo as the designers of the year; they have been show casing their work at LFW since 2005. The pair have been renowned for creating beautiful prints on luxurious textiles

Bora Aksu

Who is he: a Turkish designer, educated in Saint Martins. Received rave reviews from broadsheets newspapers in the UK after his very first collection and he has had several window displays in Selfridges. I would describe him a dark slightly gothic designer, with a killer eye for detail.

Jean-Pierre Braganza

Who is he: well he is a British native, raised in Canada, educated in saint martins. In 2004 Karl largerfield selected him for the protégé project.

The look: Now you have a bit of a background on him, he describes his spring/summer 2011 collection as “Mystical bikes and legends of ravens. Heavy Metal whispered softly by fairies.” I describe it as pastel tones, draping, edgy with beautiful prints. He seemed to have designed for the updated rock chic, instead of hard blacks and greys; he used pale pinks and whites. The attention to detail really shone through, beautifully tailored waistcoats and blazer. You what I really enjoyed is that you could easily wear this, straight from the runway.

The makeup: The eyes were the focus, with pink shadow smudged across the sides and plenty of eyeliner. Minimal lip colour and blush.

LFW: Maria Grachvogel

So the first review I’m doing is from Maria Grachvogel spring/summer 2011 collection.
The colours: greyish, bright yellow and blue, with hints of green.
The materials: chiffon and silk
The look: well i would describe is as minimalism at its finest! Lots of bright maxi's (I’m in luv with anything maxi, the more the better i say), loose fit fluid type dresses and tops and the tailoring was to die for. It just seemed like a luxurious collection, though she used simple grey/nude colour as the undertone for the collection, bright yellow and blue made simple outfits pop. Simple tailored pieces, lots of drop waist pieces meant this collection can suit pretty much any body type, the short dresses if you have great pins, maxi dresses for the pear shaped woman, and great tailored trousers for those with more of an athletic body type.

I just came across this designer, but she will definitely be on my designer hit list from now on.

Ever felt like an outsider?

Band of outsiders is the baby of Scott Sternberg. The collections tend to be tomboyish, nerdy with spring 2011 including of plaid, button up to the collar shirts and short combo’s. To me the women’s collection seem like a collection for those who wear men’s clothing and still make them look feminine, kinda like Alexa Chung, I could see her wearing these clothes on daily basis. The collection screams simplicity and the make-up matched beautifully, the barely there look with hair pushed away from the face.

The men’s look was preppy, think Sloane square in London or the Hamptons in New York. Simple turned up trousers or shorts were the staple items. To me the man who would wear this, is the kinda guy that isn’t dictated by fashion trends, yet his coolness means he always seems ‘fashionable’, (think about it, there is a big difference). This man knows that simple attire will work both at work and play. The guy you work with that always dresses nicely but you can never say he dresses up, the creative type professional’s architects, graphic designers etc you know the type, which is what this collection reminds me of.

Key items for me are the men’s shorts, blazer and the turned up trouser for the tomboys. Also the sunglasses.
