Spring 2011 beauty trends part deux

Ola fashion junkies,
How are we all doing today? I’m feeling very chirpy today, it’s a strange feeling.  Anyways as promised I am continuing my beauty trends for 2011 post, today its NAILS.
Nails are now a key accessory and bold statement manicured nails have been spotted on the runway. The shape for this season are (hahahah how am I to describe this?) oval and pointy, Rihanna has been rocking this look for some time.

Now we have the shape sorted let’s think colours and styles. In terms of colours try out metallic (you can also think about muted metallic shades), corals and neutrals.  When it comes to styles you can let your imagination run wild, take a looky at some ideas below. Also have a look at the refinery website for some pretty cool how to sections.

2011 Beauty trends part one

So a few posts ago I mentioned I would be giving you a guide to party makeup, well I’m sorry I became lazy and didn’t follow through (I can hear the boos now) but I shall rectify this with a 2011 trend beauty guide. (I can hear the cheers now) I’m actually super excited about this post, the makeup from the last season was slightly dark and sombre, frankly I’m done with that phase, the weather has improved, (NO MORE SNOW, amen to that) it feels fresher and I think it’s time for our makeup to now follow through with that freshness.
So here we go: post one is all about lippy!!!!
Dark purple and berry shades in lipstick are a thing of the past, this spring opt of red, deep pinks or orange lipstick. That’s right I said orange, now wait before you start to frown it’s actually a really versatile and can complement any skin tone, this color played a major role in quite a few runways.

To apply orange lippy: Use a lip brush to outline the lip then begin to fill in the lips. Now depending on how intense you’d want it you can either dap with tissue for a light look, or reapply to create an intense orange colour. If lippy isn’t your game or if you don’t think you could go the whole hog then try orange sheer lip-gloss on its own. Word on the street is (can’t believe I just used that phrase) MAC do some lovely tones of orange.
Try it out it will lift you mood, funny but oh so true. Have a look at a few celebs giving orange a go:

5,4,3,2,1 happy new year!

How do the rich and famous celebs party on new years? why they go out and get paid to party of course! Here are a couple of sightings from across the pond.

As a die hard fan of MTV the City I can understand why Olivia Palermo ended up becoming the main star fashion queen of the show but I feel for Whitney Port because she can hold her own in terms of style, I guess her style isn't as accessible as Palermo's (Honestly Miss P can do no fashion wrong in my eyes). Below is another fine example of Whitney's style.

Dear Diary today was another bad photo moment for me so I'll use J-to the-Lo for my inspiration when posing, coz boy this lady can pose!

I picked this photo of John Mayer because I thought he looked fab, but then I paid closer attention to the photo and realised that he is wearing a pinstripe suit  bleugh! (why are they still making pinstripe suits?? Pinstripe should have died out in the 90s)

She is a cama cama Cama chameleon yet to colour her hair green but has tried every other hair colour and has hands down owned each hairstyle. Raise your glasses for this style maven

Mr Fox looking very suave in his suit, I think you'll agree the scarf makes this outfit!

Jay Z and Kanye celebrating the new year in a concert (with Coldplay no less) enjoying a little sippy sippy. Its clear who looks better in this pic....JAY Z! Kanye always seems to look good, sadly not here :( Now calm down all you Westies (K.west fans) don't start with me I'm allowed my opinion aren't I? (the Oxford dictionary defines Westies as hard core fans, die hard in fact, mention one negative thing about their leader and they're on you like a dog on heat) I still think Kanye knows fashion but I personally don't like this choice. so this is what the future looks like......

Why does a new year have to bring a new you? What if you’re happy just being you, with all your characteristics (physical and emotional) why does every new year mean you have to make up new ways of reinventing yourself to live up to the social norms to beauty/success/happiness. Rather than go all sentimental on your asses, I’m gonna be thankful for the chances I’ve had in 2010 and ask for patience for 2011. No new year’s resolution, no quick fixes, I’ll just wait to see what this year has in store for me, cope with whatever is being thrown my way and most of all be happy. As ultimately that’s what everyone wants, it’s to be happy (of course our ideas differ in what happiness really is), so haters fall back we doing this our way!!!

makeup part one.....

It’s too early for my brain to fully function @ multitasking at the moment. I’m in the process of thinking about what to wear whilst trying to work out which of these vitamins i should be eating, whilst eating breakfast (French bread and tea, just so you know) and trying to set up twitter, all at the same bloody time. So instead of failing to multitask i shall post this instead (dang you procrastination you win again), this post will be in parts it'll be a run up to new year's festivities (shucks i can't believe it’s going to be 2011 already) (hey brain why are there so many comments in brackets?!).
Anyhoo as I was saying here are a few ideas for party make up, be adventurous with your makeup in the evening

Carolina Herrera pre-fall 2011

Hello fashion junkies,

Normally I don't tend to bother looking at Herrera's fashion offerings, I think I view her clothes as something an older woman would wear or someone far more refine than I am would wear. (Actually scrap the end part I am refined dang it.) When I saw this pre-fall collection I immediately started shouting the names of the various celebrities I actually can see wearing these dresses at the ocars, golden globes etc, I mean much to the fear of my mother who thought I had a fit or something or that nature.
In fact I’m going to stick my neck out here and say Helen Miran should most definitely wearing the black and gold dress and I would love to see Carrie Mullen in the puff ball skirt and jacket combo. Mark my words you will definitely see someone wearing one of these dresses very soon. I've picked out some of my favourites.

Also slightly random but I would love some ideas as to what book i should start reading next.
Much luv
